Visiting Cebu

Last 14th of December was my flight bound to Cebu, it was time to Visit my father's homeland. I was with my sister Cheche and my father. Our flight was 9:30 in the morning and I was on the windowside... hehehehe...
I was able to took pictures from the plane and enjoyed the beautiful scenes and coolness of clouds.
We arrived at my Aunt's (my father's older sister) house at around 11 AM and guess what was the first place I visited? Hahaha... It was Fitness First Cebu! Hehehe... It was a nice interior design they made to the gym. I was sure that it was a former cinema house that was converted into fitness center. But I do love the redefinition of the place, the balcony was there and it was a wide place to workout with, such a really cool place.

Because of tiredness, I just slept on my first night with Cebut City.
On the second day, it was a church day. We went to Basilica Santo NiƱo and of course, I did not forget to visit Cebu's finest mark, the Magellan Cross.

Also that day, we went to Chines Temple to relax and rest, and at the same time see the wonderful views of Cebu City. It was located in a mountain so you will able to see the trees around the city.

Also that day, of course, it was a workout day! I went back to Ayala Center (where Fitness First Cebu was located) para magpapawis...
On the third day, it was a solemn day because it was the burial day for my Uncle's sister. We joined them to the church and cemetery. I was in charge in giving out foods.

Also that day, we went to SM Cebu with my cousins and pamangkins because it was a Converse Sale day and I bought 3 shirts and my sister purchased a pair of shoe while my father got a shirt. Then we headed to Ayala Center to have our dinner in a dimsum house. The food was okay and price was cheap.

On our last day, around 9AM, I run to Fitness First again to have my last workout in Cebu. Then I came home at 11:30 and prepared to go home. But first we went to a market to buy dried fish or danggit as pasalubong sa Pasig. Also, we headed to Shamrock to purchase Otap and Dried Mangoes.
Overall, our stay in Cebu was not for pasyal or puro pagsasaya. My father really missed his sister, I think his last visit in Cebu was 1993, almost 13 years. He grew up there and studied there and it was definitely his childhood home. It was fun seeing my father and auntie's lambingan kahit mejo matatanda na sila... hehehe... It was a cool vacation for me. For sure mauulit pa sya....

Company Christmas Party

Last Wednesday, 13th of December, we had our Company Christmas party held in Manila Peninsula. It was such an extravagant event for the Misys employees. Cool raffle prizes, tasty foods, nice live band and great performances. Unfortunately, I did not won in the raffle... nakakainis nga eh. The foods were okay and again, unfortunately, i have to eat less due to my diet regime.

The good thing about that night was that we won third place in the broadway performance. We did the 'CATS' broadway and we bested 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Westside Story'. 'chicago' and 'Grease' garnered a tie status so they were declared as either 1st or 2nd placer. At least we won even there were so many mistakes during the performance such as the defect on the backgroud music, tapos hindi kami masyadong sabay sabay but at least... we WON... hahahaha. And something that we can be proud of, during that night, our group was the ONLY team who performed LIVE the song, others did lypsynch.
The night was fun because there was also a live band. But what I waited the most was the grand raffle draw. Sayang yung 1st prize eh, trip for two to Saigon. Kakainis, naghintay pa naman ako ng matagal.... hehehe... Almost 2 AM na ako nakauwi eh may flight ako ng 9 AM kinaumagan at di pa ako nakakapagempake that time... Hahaha... but still, I enjoyed the night. Can you spot me on the following pictures? hehehe...

Saturday Fun Night

Last December 9, my bestfriend left for Hong Kong to have their family vacation and also that day, Wendel was making treat for me and Maret in Shakeys! Fortunately masarap ang garden salad dun, at least, di puro pizza kinain ko, I was able to maintain my diet that day. It was supposed a big treat from Wendel but to my dismay, it was not a hundred percent treat but it was okay because he told us that the second part will be on the 6th of January of next year. It will be a big treat from him because of his job as Technical Support from Teleperformance. After we ate our dinner, to our surprise, Jayson saw us and we headed directly to Starbucks to have some coffee.

It was a fun night because of the kuwentuhans and yabang stories from Wendel about his new Sansa player. He and Jayson was arguing that night but in a funny and nice way. We stayed there until past 11pm then we decided to go home because Jayson was worrying na wala na syang masakyan pauwing Laguna... hehehe

Departmental X'mas Party

Last Friday, 8th of December, our department (Fix Development) held a Christmas Party in Citadel Inn. And gladly or sadly to say, I was one of the committee. The following picture is the photo of the people responsible for the said celebration. I don't know why they appointed me to be one of them, my team lead chose me for no definite reason... Hehehe... but it was okay with me because it wasn't a hard job, thanks to Maye!
Anyway, the night was quite fun, we had 5 games and special citations to the members of our department. We had buffet by hiring a caterer to check and prepare all the foods. In all, it was a night of getting out from work to relax and have a happy atmosphere away from the crucial situation in the office. Hehehe...

Horror and Action

1. The Grudge 2 - November 4 : The film was quite scary but I really didn't like the story and it's ending. It was so simple and you can even predict what's the next scene. But kudos to the frightening sounds and horrifying scenes where the attack of the ghosts where taken. And I like the first scenes of the movie, quite nice. Here's a review from EW: "What's a bad sequel but a revenant soul doomed to repeat itself? The Grudge 2 broadens the reach of the Japanese curse that put Sarah Michelle Gellar's doe-eyed gaijin in the hospital, but the scares are the same: the hair, the tub, the yowling cat-boy, etc. Once again, we're treated to loosely aligned scenes of half-formed characters (including Amber Tamblyn as Gellar's brittle sister, so slight the movie nearly forgets she's there) getting a faceful of director Takashi Shimizu's croaking, implacable, and, yes, still scary housewife-geist."
2. Casino Royale - November 16 : I became a big fan James Bond film when a certain cable channel featured an 'Absolute Bond' film fest last May or June. I realized that Bond films were really good, interesting story and sexy ladies. Anyway, Casino Royale tells the story on how James got the 007 status, maybe this was the prequel of all Bond films, but not sure. Also, James in this movie was brutal and more aggressive. And for the first time, he said the word 'I Love You'!. I bought a 40th Anniversary James Bond DVD containing all past 20 James Bond films (Casino Royale is the 21st) and I'm beginning to enjoy watching those movies again. Going back to the film, I think Daniel Craig is good in portraying such role, with good body, sense of humor and a true English Blood, he was the 2nd British actor to play the role and the first of which under 40 of age (does it mean the youngest? not sure). But all in all, of course, I loved the film and I'll watch it again when it come out in DVDs. My favorite James Bond film? Hmmmm... Die Another Day... wondering why? Listen to the theme song... hehehehe...

Papa is Back!

My father is finally home! (even for just two months). He will back again to Riyadh on the 16th of January but we are still happy thinking that we will celebrate Christmas and New Year together!

He is going back go the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to finish his last one year contract and I told him that he can rest after finishing it. He is already 50 and I want to him to relax, maybe we could just put up a small business here and I'm giving him the planning strategy for that. He arrived the day after my mother's 50th birthday. We are planning to visit our relatives in Cebu on the 14th of December. Grabe ang hirap magpabook ng ganitong season! But fortunately my sister found a travel agency that booked us to Philippine Airlines in a cheap price. Whew!

Double B Celebration

Last Sunday (19Nov06), we held a big celebration in our home called 'The Double B celebration'. It was double B because it was a birthday celebration and baptismal day! Actually, the main root of celebration was my mother's 50th birthday. She told me that her wish is to baptise the two kids of our neighbor and a child from my 'pamangkin sa tiya'. At first, I was hesitant to spend for those reasons but I realized that it was a good thing helping others to welcome their children in the world of Christianity. So there came the plan, first I designed the invitation card (I'm not really good in designing).

Afterwards, my mom went to the church to register the kids and to pay the necessary fees for the baptismal. Then we planned the foods to prepare and hired a cook to monitor and do the entire phases of cooking. The day before the big day, my mom and I went to grocery to buy the required things and other spices for the foods. Thank God that the cook we hired was the best! Hehehe... sarap kumain!

On the day of the celebration, what we did first thing in the morning was to prepare the kids that will be baptised. Then we went to the church and witnessed the event. (Kulang pics dito kasi di ko nakunan yung isang bininyagan...)

The birthday celebration came next, in the afternoon, there were so many kids, imagine 3 kids were celebrating their birthday in our small house, nakupo! My mother's visitors mostly came at night.

Well, it was a tiring day and... sobrang nakakabutas ng bulsa! Hehehe...

Once Again

Last Sunday, 12th of November, after 7 hours of overtime work in the office, I went directly to a record bar to purchase John Legend's new album, Once Again. I became a fan of him since his song 'Ordinary People' which I used to sing a lot! Hehehe... Regarding the album, I love it! Really my type of music, R&B soul! His first single, 'Save Room' became an instant favorite of mine. Actually, as of writing, I have memorized it's lyrics. Upon listening on the album, I think that he pours so much of himself into each one of these songs, whether they're about flings with groupies or breakups with long-term girlfriends, that the album can begin to wear around the eighth track. The songs flit back and forth between easygoing, butterflies-of-love-type sentiments and deep drama, with both sides expressed through similar levels of intensity. It has full of emotions and a great musicality!

October Movies

The month of October was a busy month for me, busy in work, celebrations and extra activities. But I always make sure that I have time for movies! Let's review the movies I have watched for the 2nd BER month in SM Megamall.

1. Pulse - October 7- So far, this is the worst movie I have seen this year. The story was not constructed in the way that it will be understandble and the movie' screenplay was not that good. Most of the times, yes, we screamed (I was with my high school friends) but it was not because of katatakutan, puro panggugulat lang! The story plot was not even clear, the effects and sounds were not even studied very well. I don't know but I just don't like this movie. I can't even remember the face of the lead characters.

2. The Departed - October 22- The story was quite familiar, two investigators, one good, one bad. The one was doing an undercover tasks and one covering a crime leader who happened to be his known father. But what I like about this film is that the attack on each scenes made by the director was something different. Maybe the acting expertise of the actors contributed a lot. SUch an ordinary plot but the element of mystery was there, the crime, hide and seek factor, revealing dark secrets and revenge. This is an interesting movie.

3. The Prestige - October 30- This film is brilliant! A different kind of story. I can say that this is one of the best films for the year. The major key of the story is about revenge and obsession. Each of the scenes were clearly plotted and I was moved by the emotions shown by the actor on always being the best. Beating one another just to be the greatest. I love the idea of giving a conflict on magic and science. All of the casts were superb! Two thumbs up!

On 26th of October, we celebrated Charlie Boy's (Vicefriend) Birthday, Wendel called me up and he insisted to meet us including Maret and Charlie in SM Megamall. I think Wendel did not have that convincing power that day because Charlie did not show up and told him that he is shy because it was his birthday and maybe he was thinking that we were expecting a treat from him. It was Wendel's idea to celebrate Charlie's birthday that day but unfortunately, Charlie did not attend to his own birthday celebration.

The next day, 27th of October, we had Halloween celebration in Misys Office, Trick or Treat. We decorated our area and it seems simple but nice. The girls from our team designed our workplace including the table that is full of candies.

When the children arrived, whew! such a happy event seeing those kids wearing costumes like Superman, Mulawin, Star Wars, etc. Some of them were shy picking up candies from our table but most of them loved what we prepared! Check these stolen shots and see if you can spot me... hehehehe.... (thanks to Wandawoman and HR for the pics)

I have checked this piggy bank of mine, it was a gift from my bestfriend on my 22nd birthday. I realized that it was almost full but I am now afraid to broke this. The reason is that it is full of 5 peso and 10 peso coins. I am afraid that I may discover fake peso coins. Since there was a report on manufacturing fake coins, haaaayyy... I always check my coins using magnet just to verify if it is fake or not. I have decided to open this on Noche Buena at ipapaagaw ko!!! Yipeeee!!!

On November 1, we celebrated the life of my sister Cindy. We went to the cemetery to visit her niche, we prayed for her soul and asked her guidance. It was a happy thought that she is now with the Lord, watching us and taking care of my father who is miles away from us (he is currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). I know that she is happy now and living with God Almighty....

Add / Minus

It all started with this kind of trash: (hehehe)

Last night, 25th of October, we had a dinner in CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) located in Glorietta. It was fun but mixed with sadness. Ivy (matured as we call her) celebrated her 26th (26 nga ba or 29) birthday. Plus 1 to her age.

She had her new haircut and I think she looks great. Maybe because she was with her boyfriend Sonny and she wanted to be the most beautiful girl in his eyes! Wahahaha!!!

It was also a despedida party for Ann as she will be leaving on Friday (27th of October) for US, she will be assigned in Northwest Airlines office for six months.

It was such a sad feeling, we will really miss PBB (Pinay Big Boss as Tong call her). Also present that night were Ober, Miles, Nayds, Tong and Chichi!

Allan was absent, he was so busy reviewing for SCJP! Hehehehe...
Ooooopppsss... Addition pics from Ms. Ivy:

The Week That Was

October 9 - Left handed Caloy

When I woke up, I can't move my right hand that much, so I decided not to workout that day. It was so hard to take a bath and eat using my left hand. At first, I was hesitant to go to office but I decided to work. In the office, I used my left hand doing the codes and it was so difficult. I was not productive that day. I also went home early to rest.

October 10 - Obesefriend was hired

On this day, I can freely move my right hand again. thank God! Wendel texted me this day saying that he will be having his final interview for TelePerformance at 10 PM! Wahahaha! So we met again in SM Megamall and we had dinner and made him kwento the pangyayaris in TelePerformance. And that night, he passed the final interview and will be having his job orientation on the 13th of October.

October 11 - Bowling Day

Since we will have a departmental sportsfest in Misys, I decided to make a practice in bowling since I was assigned in that sports. I texted Nene (I used to call her that but her real name is Kristine. We were good friends since high school) to join me and she agreed instantly. So we met in SM Megamall (Megamall na naman?! Pakialam mo?!!!) but we had dinner first in Almon Marina.

The food was great but the service was not that good. We waited for almost 30 minutes for burger and fries! Imagine that! Anyway, just to ease the asar, we headed to the Bowling Center of the mall and we played competing each other. Unfortunately, I was a loser. See the scores? Huh?
Nene love to pose in front of the camera so kahit labag sa kalooban ko, I took her pictures! But we had fun! For sure, mauulit yun!

October 12 - Sportsfest Day

We left the office at 11 AM and we used my TL's car to go to Philippine Columbin Association in Manila (bait ng TL ko no?!). We first had our lunch and take note, I didn't have rice. Still I want to implement the "No Rice Policy" for me. Our department was divided into two groups and here is my team:

We played human domino, battleship and game of the generals. Then we headed to the badminton to swim, hehehe... of course to play badminton but I did not played because it's not my forte... wahehehe... Then to the bowling center and to my dismay, the bowling shoes were dirty! So I decided not to play (kaarte ko no?!).

In the end, we lose. I went home with a 100 peso Starbucks gift cheque.

October 13 - Pow Wow or Sale?

This was the day when our office held Moonlight Pow-Wow but obviously, I did not attend it because I have other important things to do, SHOPPING! Hahaha.. Sale kasi sa SM Megamall eh (Megamall na naman?! Pakialam mo?!) Wendel and I met again (Wendel na naman?! E kasi nga galing syang orientation sa Ortigas di ba?! So nagkita na lang kame!!!). We had our dinner in Red Ribbon because I want to eat cake that day and again, I treated my obesefriend and obviously, he was VERY happy to eat! Then I bought Van Heusen polo and dri-fit shirts from Toby's sports (pang workout ung shirts). Then I was tired so we decided to go to Starbucks (naku, nahihilig na ako sa kape ah!) to rest and make kwentuhan with mataba. Then we went home at around 11PM because I planned to come back the next day to shop again! Hahaha... sinamantala yung Sale eh no?!!!
