CDs Again!

Last Saturday (26 Aug 06) I went to Fitness First Ortigas to workout. Afterwards I went to SM Megamall to purchase CDs. It's Nina's self titled album and Kami nAPO Muna, an album tribute to the Apo Hiking Society. The first time I listened to this album was when I rendered overtime work last Sunday (27 Aug 06), imagine working even Sunday? And take note, it was a 12 hour overtime. Whew!

1. Nina's new album is something that you would like to hear everyday, soft voice and nice music. Her current single 'I Do' seems to be different from the type of music she did from her previous album, Nina Live. It is something groovy and a mix of RnB sound. But still, it was a beautiful song. It has only 10 tracks and a bonus track 'Araw Mo', a happy birthday song. I'm planning to play that song on my youngest sister's birthday on the 19th of September, hehehe... Anyway, the album also has the lyrics so you can song along with Nina while playing the album. The type of sound in this album mostly a ballad and a lot of love songs. My favorites include 'I Didn't Mean to Make You Mine' and 'Whare Is Love'. The album also features all original song, something really different from her previous one. I can say that all songs are good!

2. Kami nAPO Muna is a very enjoyable album. I love to listen to this songs. Most of the songs are known to me so I don't need a lyrics just to sing along with the bands featured on this album (actually the album package really don't have lyrics). I love the new version of 'Panalangin' by Moonstar 88, 'Yakap Sa Dilim' by Orange and Lemons and 'Doo Bidoo' by Kamikaze. I listen to these songs almost everyday! It is an entertaining album. And I realize that the APO really contributed a BIG thing in the music industry, all those songs are meaningful and a part of our daily life. The only song that I hate is 'Blue Jeans' by Rocksteddy maybe because I used to grow up giving importance on education. This album also featured the famous and excellent bands of today. I recommend this album to you guys!

Back to Basics

I purchased Christina Aguilera's new CD, Back To Basics last week and I can say that it sounds new and better than her previous work. It's a combination of jazz, pop & rock. The styles and the musicality of the album were good. I purchased the CD at Php 560.00, I think the price is worth it because it is a 2-cd album, the 2nd CD was an enhanced CD. When I asked the saleslady what's with an enhanced cd, she told me that it can be played on the computer. When I played the 2nd CD, it was only a video of journey on how the album was created, from recording to pictorials. But when I was searching for the tracks or sound files, I couldn't find it, only the video was searchable. Maybe the folder was hidden, I'll try to search it again. Actually, in the 1st cd, it has 13 tracks and the 2nd one has 9 songs, so 22 in all. I copied the songs from the 1st cd to my computer in the office. I think it's okay because according to the IT group of the company, only legal mp3s were allowed and the songs were copied from an original CD. Well back to the album, my favorite songs are 'Still Dirty' and 'Hurt'. I think the first was the second installment of her previous song 'Get Dirrty'. The album also include lots of her pictures, not just pictures but hot and sexy pics, really good to view. :)

Here's a review from Lucy Davies of BBC
Christina AguileraBack to Basics(BMG)

Christina Aguilera's back, flexing her formidable vocal cords on double album, "Back to Basics". First-off, she goes "back to the old groove", talking about all the soul greats that she listened to as a child (Otis Redding, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald), and singing over some 'vintage' samples, with varying results. There are still modern-day self referential lyrics, such as "Still Dirrty", where she goes on the attack to defend her slutty image, and "Thank You (dedication to fans)", which quickly turns into a dedication to Xtina, with vox-pops of fans gushing "You're so amazing", "You inspired me to carry on living..." Ick! On the second cd she merges full-throttle vocals into songs styled from the 1920s, including 12 bar blues and close vocal harmonies. Sometimes this works well, like "Trouble", where she successfully turns the volume and intensity down from 11 to somewhere like 5, and "Candyman". Then she breaks into the ballad box, name-checking Jesus and singing to her husband ("The Right Man") towards the album's close. There's no doubt that Christina's got a stunning voice, but stylistically she could be more varied, simply by cutting out some of the "y-e-e-eeeh, woah yeh's" on the second album. Whilst some songs like "Oh Mother" might mean a lot to some, those with the tiresome self defence lyrics should go - when she gets on with the singing, there's nothing to prove.

What's Up?

It's almost one month and a half since I left, hmmm... a lot of names : Provident Computer Consultants Inc., a wholy owned subsidy of Pinkerton Computer Consultants Inc which was acquired by KForce, so what it's name now? Not sure, but I love to call it PCCI. I learned a lot from that company, gained more experiences especially in work, I had my eye stye (kuliti) event in that company, danced an Indian song and most especially... met new friends! Naks! But really, I am truly thankful that I became a part of the PCCI family. Okay, tama na drama...
Now I'm in the world's leading banking software provider, MISYS Banking Systems! (grabe introduction)... Better computer, wider cubicle, free tissue, free softdrinks (kahit di ako masyado mahilig), free soap (panghugas ng tasa), and most important, unlimited Sick Leave! Wahahahaha!!! Seriously, I think, so far, it is better here.
But you know what, I had a big problem on my first day with Misys! Hehehe... Familiar with ABS-CBN's Deal or No Deal? Hahahaha. They texted me to come to their office on July 3 at 10 AM for a screening to get a chance to be a DoND contestant! Wahahaha... Yeah, I registered to join (nakakahiya ba?). Here's the exact text message I received:
"KDoND : May chans k 2b a Kapamilya Deal or No Deal contestant!Ur invited 2 come 2 ABSCBN QC on Mon 7/03/06 at 10am 4a screening.Mgdla ng valid ID.Dnt erase ds msg."
So I told to myself that I have to make a decision that I will not regret for my entire life, hahahaha, alas! I came to the office late on my first day because of thinking. But there will always be a lot of chance, but being absent on the first day of work? I don't think so I can do that. The first day was a whole day of Technical Training and take note, free food! From breakfast to merienda. This company is really big, with I think has branches in 28 countries and has clients in 120 nations. At first, I had difficulty because the framework was really big and I have to learn new things. Good thing I have a buddy, my manager assigned him to teach me and entertain my questions for at least one month. In fairness, I think it was an effective system (the buddy system) because now, I think I have learned 80% of what I should learn, anyway, a two week framework training is still ahead so I can still learn and learn and learn all about our product.

After a few weeks with Misys, an eye stye attacked me! (leche, 2 years in a row in the same month!) It was really big and thank God there is a clinic inside the office so that I can consult a doctor on what drug to take. He prescribed me an antibiotic and I can say it was effective. By the way I went to Gold's Gym in Tower One to check the place so that I can decide if i will really transfer to that fitness center. And you know what?! I was really disappointed! so small space, few equipments, small locker room, and take note, you have to bring your own padlock! So pobre! And puro pa kalawang! But I don't think that other Gold's Gym branch was also like that. Actually the branch in Tower One Makati is called Gold's Gym Express. Eventhough, I don't think I will transfer to that gym, I am looking for a gym that is near in the office but not that kind of kadiri place. So, to Fitness First, I must stickwitu!

June and July Movies!

It's almost two months since I updated my blog. I just trasnferred to a new environment, details will be on the next blog item. Anyway, movies for this two Js are mixed of substance and formula.
1. The Omen - June 06 (06.06.06) SM Megamall - The little devil was portrayed really nice, the eyes on that child really speak a lot, you will see the evil in those eyes even without saying a word. The story was quite simple but the attack on each scene was superb. The location (which I think in UK) was perfect, a big house in a big city, the church and the embassy building was quite perfect. I was really saddened by the ending of the story because the evil won. The story can be compared or should I say, have similarity with Final Destination movie. In this film, the death of the characters can be traced thru the pictures.
2. Superman Returns - June 29 : SM Megamall - I was on vacation on this day, I can say it was a part of my terminal leave days with PCCI. I was arranging all the clearance on this day and in short, I was alone. So I decided to watch this at around 2 pm so that I can be sure that the movie houses will not be full. This version was quite okay, but not that good. But I am giving a nod and a thumbs up on the special effects. Whew! It was really fascinating and lot of action scenes. My favorite scene was the great rescue on the plane. Only when I was watching the film noticed that Kevin Spacey was the VILLAIN! He's one of my favorite actors. He was really good acting as the contravida or I must say contravido? Hehehehe... The new Superman quite impressive and the looks really fit on his character.
3. Pirates of the Carribean - The Dead Man's Chest - July 15 : SM Megamall - I love this film... but... I hate the ending, in short it was 'BITIN'. But the action sequence and the comedic acting of Johnny Depp was really entertaining, he was very convincing in his role. That's why there's no question why he garnered an Oscar nomination from the same role on it's first part. Take note of the effects, it was also good and perfectly pictured! Jerry Bruckheimer did not disappoint me once again. Each scene was spectacular like you are watching a fantasy, comedy, and action film in one motion picture! The twist wasn't quite impressive but the editing and the screenplay was fine. I really enjoyed the battle and war scenes. Hmmm.. favorite scene? The fight scene on the wheel!
4. Lady In The Water - July 22 : SM Megamall - I was very disappointed with this fim. I thought this was very scaring, I almost felt sleepy upon viewing this motion picture. I watched this film because I love Sixth Sense and The Village, great film and great story! But with this, haaaaaaayyy, sana natulog na lang ako. There was no suspense, no frightening creatures, bad screenplay but the only good thing was the acting of a certain Chinese girl, really cute and she was the entertainment of the film for me! The sound effects were not scary and not a single strand of my hair stood up. This is a corny pic!
5. The Break-up - July 29 : SM Megamall - This was a nice movie, although the ending wasn't quite good, the storyline and the screenplay was okay and the actors were great! The saddest part of the story was when they met again after few months then greeted each other and accepting that a reunion between them shouldn't be expected. Such a different kind of love story. I also enjoyed the quarrel scenes, the ways they did to hurt each other, the jealousy and lies. The film also tackled the pathways of breaking up, on how to cope up and to move on after the storm. My favorite part? It was when Brooke walked without any clothes just to tease her ex!
6. Sukob - July 30 : SM Megamall - Hahaha... I have an officemate which I call now Sukob... ahihihi... Anyway, the film was really frightening, really scary. The sound effects and make up were excellent! Direk Roño did it again, after Feng Shui (which I also enjoyed), this one is scarrier. Kudos to the great performances of Baretto, Valdez and Anson-Roa. But I noticed some editing that wasn't right, can't remember what was it. But in overall, the film was really good! My favorite part? The death of Mrs. Yap! Wahahahahaha!!!

Welcome cALoy!!!

Whew! I am now in blogspot?! Yes, after a long time of blogging in friendster, I am finally here. But you can still view my previous posts in my friendster blog (http://cmalbas.blogs.friendster.com/). Actually, the only reason why I am switching to this domain blog is that friendster is a blocked site here in Misys, yeah I have transferred to this company. And I love to regularly update my blog so here I am, welcoming myself!
