Mary & Yeng

Last 11th of February, after a short shopping with Mawel, I headed to Radio City Megamall to purchase two CDs.

1. Mary J Blige - Reflections (A Retrospective) - This album is so cool, with tracks from her previous albums and new release hits. It seems that this is her greatest hits album, with collaborations with U2, John Legend, Wyclef Jean & 50 Cent. At first, I want to get her latest album, The Breakthrough, but some of the hits on that album were already in this compilation, so I decided to get this one. I noticed that there were two releases of this album, an International cover and Philippine Music edition. I asked the saleslady what's the difference and she told me that only the lyric sheet is the difference. In Philippine edition, it is only the album cover and it is cheaper. Back to her music, I loved 'King & Queen', a duet with John Legend. I like the melody and the lyrics itself. And my favorite track? 'Be Without You', the declared Best R&B Song in the recently concluded Grammy Awards. The album is also a mixture of R&B soul, R&B hiphop, groovy tunes and dance tracks.

2. Yeng Constantino - Salamat - All I can say is that she is really talented and I love her voice. 8 out of 10 tracks were her original composition and can you imagine, in the span of only two weeks of it's release, the album had received a Gold status? Whew! Fruits of hardwork and talent. My youngest sister asked me to buy this album so I granted her wish and I thought that I will also enjoy her music. My favorite track is 'If We Fall In Love', good melody and the music lines were impressive. The album also consists 5 hit songs so purchasing this album is really worth it. I also liked 'Salamat' because of the message of the song. This lady will be the next big thing in the Philippine music industry.
