45 Lessons in Life

I've been hearing this buzz about this life lessons last Sunday service in Hope Singapore (Yeah, I miss doing Sunday service in Singapore). A member of my lifegroup even asked for some screen captures about it and most of the members were enchanted by such list. I wanted to ask about it because I cannot relate to what they were talking about but at the back of my head was a force saying that it was indeed a good list of life lessons. So thanks to a church friend Conrad, he took time sending me iMessage all the way from Singapore, I really appreciate it. Below is the "buzz", a list of life lessons compiled by Regina Brett from Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio on her 90th birthday. Read it, they are all true, be inspired, cultivate the lessons and live with it.
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument.  Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. Its more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God.  He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry, God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, and then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'in five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative – dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw  our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Reignite

Though we bid goodbye and tears were dropped
It doesn't mean that the love has stopped
Let's try to reunite and fill the gaps
Maybe a second chance is possible perhaps

Though miles away, you're south I'm north
The strong feeling says that wait is worth
All we can do is trust and hope
We can start anew, hold tight on to rope

I'll always be here thinking 'bout you
The moment of sadness has its own due
I'll always be here my feeling is true
Cry no more, stop feeling blue

The rain will pass, the storm will ease
Just wait for sunshine and morning breeze
Let's count the days 'til we meet again
To put a stop to these heartache and pain

The Soloist

It is indeed a very sad feeling
Seems like the pain isn't even healing
Just like tears that are continuously leaking
From my hurtful eyes which are weeping

Being alone can cause so much ache
And sometimes I show a face who is fake
So no one will notice what is at stake
Instead a cover up is need for own sake

But deep inside my heart and mind
Is a loud voice of a different kind
That shouts there's a purpose for me to find
Forget the hatred, make a time to unwind

I don't think that help is so unreachable
And that rectifying the sadness is so impossible
I Do not worry and I won't stumble
I'll outburst my inner strength, I'll stay humble

I'll Stand up and cheer up, depend to no one
Will Show them what I got and be a real man
Reach my ultimate goals and continue to run
Until the sadness and pains were gone

Yes I'm a soloist but I don't care
I can overcome everything who wants to dare
Yes I'm a solist and I'm not scared
Opportunites are the place where everyone is fair

Trabajo

So its been almost four weeks since I started working here in Dubai and it was a record breaking of "NO LATE" haha... My work starts at 8 in the morning and ends at 5PM. Good thing there is a Metro (also known as MRT) here and the transportation isn't that bad except for a taxi ride, sometimes you have to provide the direction yourself as most of them rely on that. You have to provide landmark and any other known places for them to realize where is the place you are talking about. Anyway, my work location is in Jumeirah Lake Towers which is a free zone (I am not sure what's the difference with the non-free zone). It is a four metro stations from my house so it is quite convenient. Our middle east office isn't that huge, we are only seven (I heard we will be hiring four more resources) in the office, small right? But the Russia & Belgium offices are quite big.

Currently, I am on a nine weeks training and it is VERY challenging. You have to learn the entire system by reading documents and watching tutorial videos. The good thing is that there is an outline and the training materials are not that bad. There are some exercises and tests that needs to be completed. I can say, this system is quite good and very big. The company is a payment gateway that also provides switch, card personalization for both debit and credit cards, loyalty hosting, kiosks, mobile services, etc. As of now, the most exciting part of my job is our upcoming trip to Finland, wohoooo!!! It is a global company event on which all of our offices around the world will meet and have some convention and conference.

So the big question is, did I make the right decision? And I am proud to say, YES. Sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone and be challenged. Not that I got bored in my previous company but sometimes new environment is a big factor. And yeah, the salary of course and other privileges and benefits. But I want to experience something unique, something that I want to try and you know how much I love to travel. I am now closer to Europe and middle east countries haha...

No More Chicken

Since yesterday, I have removed chicken meat in my food list. Same to what I did to pork and beef. I must admit, it is a very difficult decision because chicken is what I love the most! No more KFC, Chickenjoy, roasted chicken, etc. But I would still eat egg because, uhmmmm... it's not yet a meat?! Hehehe. Anyway, when I was in a food court, I was having hard time what to eat, so I ended up in fish fillet sandwich. I also bought Century tuna in cans and Ligo sardines. This weekend, I'm planning to buy prawns, squid and fish. So it will be a season of seafoods for me for three years. Yes, after three years I will also stop eating seafoods.

Basically, I'm doing this not for diet purposes but for health stability. Meats aren't helpful when you start to get old so fruits and vegetables will be the solution. I don't want to focus on that yet since I want to enjoy first seafoods. I know, I know, I will miss chicken meat but I believe that I can do this until I reach that goal, to be a vegetarian. And based on my 9 year plan (started 2006), I will be victorious haha...
